Youth Programs Print E-mail

The objective of these programs is to assist the Youth in preparing for, obtaining and maintaining employment, as well as making successful transition into the labour market. There are (3) three kinds of programs under this intitiative:

1. Internship Program-To support internship with employers that provides youth with skill enhancement, work experience and entrepreneurial assistance.

2. Community Service Program-To support the development of work opportunities for youth who face barriers to finding employment through participation in community service projects.

3. Student Summer Employment-To help students to find summer work through wage subsidies to employers.


CRITERIA

The project funded must:

  • Be a full-time job (min. 35 hrs. per week)
  • Offer opportunity for a permanent job
  • Be in addition to existing jobs

Funding

Funding is available namely for salaries (up to the maximum
$10.00 which includes fringe benefits), trainining costs, and travel
expenses.

Eligibility

  • Cree and non-Cree (15 to 30 years old)
  • Any organization (business, partnership, society, band council, agency, non-profit organization, etc. not necessarily owned by a Cree beneficiary).
